Setting Up Thermal Printer and Cash Drawer

POS printing options, WebUSB requirements, and the local bridge required for network ESC/POS.

Supported printer types

You can use browser printing. WebUSB is available only in compatible browsers, mainly Chrome, and requires testing the device.

Network ESC/POS printing requires a CORS-enabled local HTTP bridge that the browser can contact directly and that forwards data to the printer.

  • Browser (Windows/Mac print dialog) — for occasional use
  • Local network — requires an HTTP bridge configured by the business
  • WebUSB — Chrome and compatible hardware; validate before use

Configuring a network IP

The network option expects a local HTTP bridge URL. The bridge must accept direct browser requests from the Kontafico origin through CORS and forward bytes to the printer’s ESC/POS port.

Test the browser, bridge, network, and drivers together. Kontafico does not proxy this traffic through its servers.

Cash drawer compatibility

The POS includes a manual button that sends the drawer command through WebUSB or the configured local bridge. It does not open the drawer automatically after checkout.

Opening depends on the cabling, printer, browser, and bridge; test it before operating a live register.

80mm receipt printing

The printable 80mm layout shows the logo when configured, basic business details, product breakdown, subtotal, VAT, total, and payment methods. It does not include a signature line.

You can customize the receipt header and footer from POS → Terminal settings → Receipt.
